Help Lines Near Shorelines Casino Belleville

Limits hold better when they are fixed at home, both as a dollar amount and as a time. The tool below converts the two into an hourly pace and a point to stop.

Set the limit

A limit for the visit

Money and time decided at home · nothing is sent anywhere

$33 an hour

Plan 3 breaks: at 45 min, 1 h 30 and 2 h 15. Stop when the $100 is gone or at the 3 hour mark, whichever comes first.

Treat the total as what the night out costs, not a goal to reach. Over time, losing is the expected outcome.

Setting a limit before the visit

Before setting out, settle on two limits: a spending amount for the visit and a length of stay. Think of that amount as what the evening costs, the way a ticket would. It is not a sum to chase back. At planned moments, step away from the games for a walk or a meal. Once the money is spent, the visit ends.

A house edge, meaning a small advantage written into the rules, is part of every casino game. Across many plays, losing is the normal result, not misfortune. Under Ontario law, people under 19 may not go into a casino or stay in one; only staff at work are exempt.

Where to get help in Ontario

  • ConnexOntario, the province's help line, covers addiction, mental health and problem gambling. Calling 1-866-531-2600 is free and confidential, with someone answering 24 hours a day. The same service takes texts, CONNEX to 247247, and offers chat at connexontario.ca.
  • Belleville Casino Stop steers readers who need a casino break toward My PlayBreak, OLG's self-exclusion program. The chosen term is 3 months, 6 months, or a whole number of years from 1 up to 5, and throughout it each Ontario casino refuses the person entry. Enrolment can be done over the phone, where the OLG Support Centre answers at 1-800-387-0098, face to face with staff at the casino, or inside a PlaySmart Centre.
  • OLG runs PlaySmart Centres with the Responsible Gambling Council, and every OLG casino has one. For help by phone, the Virtual PlaySmart Centre is on 1-833-888-2306 between 11 am and 7 pm, 7 days a week.
  • For online play, iGaming Ontario runs BetGuard, at betguard.ca. One request shuts a person out of all regulated online gambling in the province, OLG.ca too. Fixed lengths are 6 months, 1 year and 5 years, and a custom term can be set instead. It does not reach casinos people visit in person, such as Shorelines on Bell Boulevard.

For worried family and friends

People concerned about the gambling of a partner, parent or friend can call ConnexOntario too. Someone picks up 1-866-531-2600 at every hour of the day, in confidence and at no charge. Texts with the word CONNEX can go to 247247, and chat is open at connexontario.ca.

Questions at the counter

Is ConnexOntario open at night?

Yes, a call to 1-866-531-2600 costs nothing, stays confidential and gets an answer 24 hours a day. Sending CONNEX by text to 247247, or using the chat on connexontario.ca, also works.

Is it possible to cut a My PlayBreak term short?

No, once picked, the term is locked in. The options are 3 months, 6 months, or a number of years from 1 up to 5. For that reason, the Bell Boulevard desk advises thinking the length over well before enrolling.

Does BetGuard block casinos?

BetGuard leaves out casinos that people visit in person. Its reach is Ontario's regulated online gambling sites, OLG.ca among them. For a land-based casino, entry is barred through My PlayBreak instead.
